So far in the story, I believe that the book has gone by very fast from the first part where he is happy with his life, to the next part where his life is turned upside down. Also, I didn't understand why Shane's father was arrested at one of his baseball games, and that he was escorted out by policemen in front of everyone's family and friends. Another part that I didn't understand was that at Shane's father's funeral, that the priest said a lot of nice things about the father, even though he has never met him in his life.

One part in the story that I could relate to Shane was when Shane wasn't focused at his games, and he wasn't pitching up to his usual standards. When my parents come to my sporting events, I feel nervous that I would let them down if I do badly.

This is Savo I think this book is really compelling i read over 120 pages of this the other day. The reason why its sad is because shane lost everything his father, his sports, and his great life. Now everything is upside own for him he lives in the projects, gets arrested, loses his touch in baseball, and has no friends. the only thing now in life he has is his mom and his sister, and baseball.

I really seem to connect with shane because i do care about basketball and school. I know my parents can't afford paying me and my brothers tuition almost a year apart and let me tell you thats a lot of money. Thats what shane has to think about too his mom can't pay the college money so he needs his talents to prevail to be somebody in life.

I don't understand why Shane's dad did what he did to himself. He knows that Shane and Marian are going to be really sad after. He shoulden't have done that. He should have just went to jail. I think Shane should keep on playing baseball. He is really good at it and shoulden't let what happened to his dad bring him down. Shane was really stupid for doing all the bad stuff with Lonnie. He should have made friends with the kids on the baseball team instead.

A part I can relate with Shane is when he is pitching. Whenever I play a sport I take it seriously and try to get everything out of my mind. I do this so I can concentrate on the game.

As I read further into the book, many new obstacles appear for Shane. One thing that I found that was interesting to me was when Shane actually would do something that almost had him in jail. I would think that he was smarter than that, especially because of the choices that he made in the past. I also thought that his mother would act differently than the way she did when she got him out of jail. One part that I read that was unexpected was that his final pitch was so off, that it hit the batter in the head, causing him to go to the hospital. A part that I found confusing was when Shane came all of the way to the hospital, and he didn't even bother to say anything to the person that he hit. One part of the story so far that made me happy was that he got a summer job working with one of his baseball teammates. Another part that confused me was that Reese showed up at one of the baseball games that Shane and Miguel were playing. It confused me because Reese could have been playing with a much better team, but he chose not to.

A part in the story that I can connect to was when Shane threw the ball at the batter, and now he can't pitch as well as he did. A few years ago when I played softball for the park district, it was my first time pitching ever, and I was so nervous that my pitch hit the batter in the stomach. The girl started crying and everyone came rushing over to her. I felt really bad at what I did, and for the next few games, I wasn't able to pitch.

For me, the end of the book seemed to go by very slowly. Most of the last pages was the author taking us through a pitch by pitch baseball game which seemed like forever. Also, much of it was very predictable. It was weird coincidence that the very last batter of the game was Reese, the same guy who he hit with the ball the last times they played. Another part that I didn't like was that they didn't mention how the rest of the tournament turned out. One part of the book that surprised me was that even at the game that Shane didn't play well in, the college scout didn't seem to care. One part that I was confused by was that Shane did not tell his teammates about his scholarship at the end. Even with that said, I was very happy with how the ending turned out with Shane and his family.

So far I think the book is really interesting. I think Shane is slowly forgetting about what happened to his death. I think Shane is still really mad inside. He needs to concentrate on his school work and baseball so he can get a scholarship. One thing that shocked me was what happened with Shane and another boy, Reese, during a baseball game. I think he did this on purpose because he was mad at the boy. I don't think he should have done this because it might have jeopardize his scholarship.
Another think that shocked me was when Shane called the hospital for Reese. He wanted to check on him. I didn't think he would do that. I think he did that so he could hide the fact that he did that on purpose.
When I was ten years old I used to take karate classes. The trainer matched me with my friend so we could have a no contact fight. That means my friend and I would have to Fight without contact. I accidentally hit my friend in the nose. I felt really bad for hitting him. I didn't want to fight again. However, I got the courage to fight again and I beat him.

This is Savo I am further in the book where shane quits baseball and suddenly changes his mind, and I understand why he came back to it because he knew his mom couldnt pay tuition and baseball is the only thing he knows hes good at it. Now the impossible happened a scout came to watch shane play this made him get his groove back into pitching I think this could be the turning point of his life.

I didn't like the end of the book. I thought it was really predictable. I pretty much knew how the book was going to end. I knew what would happen to Shane at the game against his old school. I knew Shane's team was going to win. I pretty much knew what was going to happen when Reese came to the plate.
I think the scout that came to watch Shane made Shane nervous. When the scout was there Shane couldn't concentrate and did worse than usual. However, Shane did good enough and got the scholarship he wanted. Shane should have told the team that he got the scholarship.
I didn't like how the author wrote about every pitch. That part was really boring. All in all the book was pretty good.

High heat is about a boy name Shane who had all he needed and wanted. Shane is a star pitcher on his baseball team. Until Shane’s perfect world is turned upside down by a series of unpredictable events. One was for some reason Shane’s father was arrested for some crime at one of Shane’s games. Then when Shane gets a ride home from his game his house is surround by police cars. When Shane goes to his next game is under a great amount of stress and was not pitching a 100% at his games. I hope as I read more of the book Shane predicament improves as well as his pitching.

Shane’s old personality is slipping away along with his pitching. Shane social life is deteriorating and so are his grades. As I read more of the book I realized that in some of the chapters he acts like he does not care about what he is doing. Also I feel that he is angry and what his father did and because of that he must feel confused. Shane’s family has gone from riches to rags and is now living in government housing. Shane hates what has happened to him and I think he must be in some kind of state of shock from what has happened to him. I hope that Shane can recover from what has happened to him.

this is savo and I finished the book and thought it was really compelling and exciting. The reason why i tought that was because that shan at the end he got his dreams accomplished, and that every time I read it I never wanted to put it down
