I love this book! This is a very intense and suspenseful book. I like it how this books pulls you into the story and makes it seem as if your really there and in it. I couldn't put this book down. The part I really found that was riveting was when the meteor hit the moon and everyone was panicking. I really felt like I was really there and could see the moon coming closer and closer to earth as the moon seems to get bigger and brighter. I think that every character in this book is very brave because of how they have to endure this dilemma, especially Miranda because she is the main character. I can only imagine what it would be like for us if we were in this situation. The part where they were shopping crazily was a really good part.Another good and intense part was when Miranda was at her school and suddenly a huge thunderstorm comes. Tsunamis, people dying, no electricity, no one would like to be living like that.Got to get back to it!I love this book immensely! - Jenny H. 6th period

This is book is very good so far. I can not put it down I feel like something big is about to happen I just don't know what. The best part has to be when you actually here about what the moons effects are, when it gets knocked off balance. There always the feeling of asking yourself is the moon gonna crash into the earth, when flipping the page. The story is really good and I also thinks its very funny because of the mother.

This book is great from the start,
it is one of those books where you need to know what happens next. For example after the meteor hit the moom and all the lights were going off and Miranda got pulled from school to go shopping for food in case the world would end.
This book really gets you thinking about what could happen if the world really does or is about to come to an end. So far in the book i have read about floods and earthquakes, i really hope there are much more different kinds of storms. I'm really enjoying this book and i hope you will like it to if you read it.

when i first pick up a book i dont really favor them at all, life as we knew it did! this suspensful thriller is such a a great novel i couldnt take my eyes off it. One of the greatest things i like about this novel is that Miranda acts so much like us and even though shes a teenager the author took the depth of real life and brought up not only imagination at its best but took reality and fiction to its highest points.

Another thing i really like about this book is when after the Meteor hits the moon crazy things start to happen, and one of my favorite parts right now is when Miranda and her family go into the store fighting for their lives to get the necessities to live, its shocking but it shows what people would have to do in a crises like the one in this spontaneous novel. Another thin that i like about this novel is that when the meteor hits the moon and terrible global disasters start to happen that in real life we are experiencing some of these things and since scientists are predicting 2012 that the reference gets us readers thinking in the long run.
All in all this novel is amazing yet so suspensful, i cant wait to read more.

I love this book so much. It has really great imagery. I can totally imagine the part when Miranda is at school during the storm and all of a sudden a streak of lightning hit this tree and it caught fire. Another part I could image was the part when everyone in town is scrambling to get food and supplies to survive because everyone think the world is coming to an end. The part when everyone is scambling sort of reminded me of when you are at an airport. Everyone is pushing and shoving to get to their terminals. Nolan B, Mr.Graham, 7th period

This book is very intresting and extremely intense. From the moment the meteor hits the moon and people begin to panic, to the breathing second where the entire family is rushing to get food from a store, making constant trips back and forth, people fighting for gas, (I cant imagine the gas price to be anywhere close to that)
Living without eletricity and trying to survive when you know millions are dying each day just seems to be an everyday thing in this book. This book has a ton of detail and it makes each and every second worth while.

I agree with Rajiv, the moment when the meteor hit the moon was really intense. The trip to each and every store was also intense. I also can't imagine the gas prices to be that high! - Jenny H. 6th period

I love this book. It is very thrillable and i can't stop reading it. I like the store part about how the old lady hit the man that was trying to take her wagon off. I can't really stop reading. IN school i read in the hall ways while i am switching and i get alot of reading done. I am in the part that the mom and marinda are argueing about how marinda isn't soppuse to be dating people because at that time the family is in a risk because maranda might start sharing her stuff with dan.
But i gotta say im not the type of person that reads at all and im loving this book.

Nolan Begley said...

As I continued reading, this book just got better. I would never have thought of Miranda and Dan going out and being boyfriend and girlfriend but in a wierd sort of way. Once again I could totally image the pond in my head where everyone swims. I also like the part when Jonny and Dan sort of make this bond between them. like when they are talking about baseball. I would want to talk about something I like if I were in Jonny's position because I would feel better and happier.

Question...
How do you think your mom or dad would feel if you were dating someone when the world is about to end?

After reading further into the book, I notced how they don't talk much about the other states or countries that are being affected by what is happening right now. The only time that they actually mention that something is happening else where is when they are introducing a new conflict or problem. This method worked very well in the begining, but once they did it again it seems like it's too much like a cause and affect.

Rajiv M said...

Also, It's funny how the entire world and everyone else seems to be going under a great deal of pressure when the family is just having conflicts between each other rather then trying to focus on how to get away from the disaster and or try to overcome it. My favorite character in the book so far has to be Matt since he's very calm and understanding unlike Miranda or her mom. I can relate to Matt since I'm usually the calm one in the family when things go down the wrong way.

Jenny H. said...

Reading further into this book, it grows more intense and suspenseful. I kind of feel sorry that Miranda can't see her dad that often and doesn't get to spend time with him that much. Mrs. Nesbitt sounds like a really nice women. The part where Miranda left Horton out for a while and suddenly couldn't be found was sad. Then Matt said that Horton was probably hunted for food was pretty disgusting, but at the end Horton was found and that was a relief. Still, as I read further into this book it seems as if Miranda and her mom seems to be getting more and more close to each other and has a bigger bond than ever, and I really like that feeling. - Jenny H. 6th period

This book is very interesting and I totally agree with Nolan when he said that he could resemble to the part when everyone was pushing and shoving and I though it was like the day before Christmas when all the stores are packed with people like crayons in a box with no space to move. I also really like the book because it constantly makes you think of what you would do if you were in theses peoples shoes. I feel like this book gets better each time I read.

Angel Gonzalezpr3 said...

Wow just like i predicted ON MY last comment it did get worse. Dan and Maranda are basiclly going to break up because dan is moving. Its kinda cool how dan has learned how to drive a morticycle. From what i have heard of morticylces are pretty heavy. I don't know what miranda feels at that moment. It only talks about her wanting to hug dan and tell him how bad she fells for him but aleast she got a good feast. I can already smeel the bread.

Jenny H. said...

Miranda's friends are kind of scary. Especially Megan. She is too religious. I was surprised that she died. Peter sounds like a very great and nice person bring Miranda and her family food. Then Miranda's mom injured her foot and Peter was also generous to help. All was going well with Dan and Miranda, but then at the end Dan had to leave. Miranda was very happy that she saw Brandon at the pond and she felt all was right when she saw her idol skating with her.It was a relief for me when this happened. -Jenny H. 6th period

This book still has my attention and is getting more interesting. The situation has gotten worse. But the thing is Miranda friend is really weird and takes going to church seriously and sounds like she is brainwashed because she keeps thinking god doesn't want her to eat. Its scary how there is this disease going around from mosquito but Miranda still goes to the pond.

WOW! it really is amazing how Dan and Miranda fell in love but then again love happens, now even worse things are happening like volcanos erupting and much more chaos. It really is sad, I mean Miranda might not see Dan again. I think this book tries to tell you something at the end of every chapter but i'cant put my finger on what it is. Although it has a good mean to what it is trying to say and that is something suprising will happen. I can't wait to get the end of this book.

I can't really believe that Mrs. Nesbitt died. She was so benevolent! I couldn't bare reading the part of where Miranda saw Mrs. Nesbitt dead on her bed.Mrs. Nesbitt to me is also very generous. She gave away so many possessions of her own away to Miranda and her family. Most of the stuff were used on Christmas as presents. The second time when Miranda's mother fell and hurt her foot again was breathtaking. Miranda had to run all the way to the hospital again to find Peter. When Miranda reached the hospital, it felt very mysterious, and when the two women inside hospital told Miranda that Peter died, I was awed! I didn't think that that would happen in the story. It also must be very fun to ski like Miranda, Jonny, and Matt usually does. - Jenny H. - 6th period

I'm back. This book hasn't gotten better as I have read on. I would really feel bad if I couldn't get the proper education I wanted just like the people in the story. I feel bad because besides not getting the proper education they also have to bring their own lunches and people are really short on food so that is hard for some. I really like the part when Miranda finds the box of school supplies and steals almost everything to give to Jonny. This was an act of respect towards her brother. But she was still stealing which is a malicious act.

How would you feel if you didn't have the oppurtunity to recieve a better education?

im getting close the end of the book and now that i think about it this book wasn't half as bad as id thought it would be. i have a question that i will save for the end but either way the book at about page 300 is how i'd pictured the events to be. Like an inevitable sickness coming over someone in Miranda's family. It was so sad to learn of Peters sudden death and how the entire family except Miranda was sick.So the question was...
If they were so desperate for wood why didn't they take some from Mrs. Nesbitts house? i mean like wood from the flooring to the walls.
This book is great and i hope to finish by thursday!

This book is still not disappointing me. It still has been very interesting. I was actually very different reading about Miranda and her friend Sammi talking and having fun then usually not even talking to each other. It surprised me that Sammi was dating a 40 year old man! Its very cool how Miranda s family had a nice dinner even with her step mom and her moms boyfriend. It surprised me that Dan had to leave and kind of break up with Miranda.

Ive been reading this book for awhile now and it just keeps getting more better with a dash of suspense on every next page. The world seems to end and the moon is almost touchable but what will happen next? The chilling journal entrys want you to keep looking on to the next page just as a drug addict might say its so hard to stop and that how this book is! Also when they suspect Mirandas sick after dear peter dies it makes Mirandas family scarred mentally and will our Miranda survive? It sure spooks them when there still trying to survive by finding wood and food and love and warmth and throughout the book thats even hard! I cant wait to finish this magnificent book and find out the ending i know it will be a shocker, i cant wait.

Jonathan M. (Entry 4) said...

I'm almost at the end and i can't help but wonder what will happen to the family..

the book was based on dates i noticed and in the end the total time that elapsed was an entire year. If something like this were to happen why don't they just make a hole into the ground in live in there? since they'd get natural heat from the earth. If Jonny were the only survivor i doubt he'll make it to a place closer to the equator.

I also wished the book would have had a closed ending instead of an opened one, but who knows, maybe they made a sequel i cant wait to read

Wow, what a book. Miranda is alone and has to take care of Jonny, Matt and her mother all by herself and when he mother tells her to seek help from Peter, the worst feeling just sinks into the readers mind. I asked myself: "Why did he die?" "How did he die?" "Will the family make it out alive?" over and over as I read this chapter. Fortunately, Miranda was able to make it back and tend to the family, she gave them asprin and food over and over. Once they were all better she decided to go down to the Post office to hear from her dad and Lisa which she hasn't heard from for a long time. At this point, Miranda knows that she wont make it out alive, so she leaves the skies that is very crucial for travelling in the harsh weather so that "Jonny can use them when we're all dead." I wonder what happened to Miranda's father, Lisa, and baby Rachael, I'll have to read further to find out I guess.

I love how this book captivates you and you can't stop reading it. When the moon was hit and when they were on a shopping spree was the best part for me. and i love how the book is a lot like a diary.

Jonathan M. -- Period 7 -- (Entry #2)

so far the story is progressing very nicely
and you can clearly visualize it.
a question though....
How is Sammi going to Dallas? isn't it by the coast?

Jonathan M. -- Period 7 -- (Entry #3)

im getting close the end of the book and now that i think about it this book wasn't half as bad as id thought it would be. i have a question that i will save for the end but either way the book at about page 300 is how i'd pictured the events to be.

Jonathan M. -- Period 7 -- (Entry #4)

Jonathan M. -- Period 7 -- (Entry #5)

I wished the book would have had a closed ending instead of an opened one, but who knows, maybe they made a sequel i cant wait to read. So If something like this were to happen i think no one would be ready. and this book kind of explains how far we as humans would go to survive.

Two thumbs up and five stars! This book was wonderful.Life As we Knew It has a big ambiguous ending that allows you to think about what you think happened on everything in this book. At the end, Miranda was trying to go all the way to the post office wondering if there was any mail from her dad or any news on Lisa and her baby. Even today I ponder about such the decision that she made. I would never have done that, but after all it did save her life and her family's lives, but the skis probably aided her in her journey even though in some points it did give her a hard time. Luckily, and what a relief, that she found that yellow paper and that she has all the strength and audacity to go from the post office to city hall even though she knew that it would be tiring and a struggle. That one decision made all the difference, and it gave her and her family food so that they'd be able to survive. Books like this would be immensely great. This would probably be one of my most favorite books that I have ever read. I love this book!

Ah finally, I've been waiting to see how this journey comes to it's end but I guess this one just doesn't end. What were the odds that Miranda was going to the post office to see if there was a letter from her dad and Lisa that she would find the answer to problems that she has been long enduring. This book was very intresting but at some times it seemed very repetitive which made it a bit tedious. Overall the entire book is filled detail, conflicts between the family and the world, along with the conflicts of nature and the characters themselves. However, I'd be more than pleased to rate this book 4/5.

I am alittle sad that I am done with this book. This book was great and I might read the sequal. I thought it was very saddening when Mrs. Nesbitt died. She seemed like a really nice woman. One part that freaked me out was when the snow was falling and it got really high. I thought that they would never be able to leave again till summer. Even though their was a lot of snow They still found ways to entertain themselves by skiing. That part has sort of inspired me alittle. Even though their was lots of snow and what seemed like the end for them they still were smart enough to keep themselves busy. Another part that inspired me was when Miranda took care of her whole family when they got the flu. That to me was a great act of courage and bravery.

Question: Would you do anything differently then Miranda and her family did to survive?

WOW! this book was totally hands down one of my favorite books of all time. It had a great story line and was very realistic! Im so glad Miranda and her family survived even though i thought they would all perish but they stood strong even when they were faced with terror and death. Lastly, even though nothing will ever be the same Miranda and her family know they got through it, together!

Wow! This book was really good. It had some parts where I was surprised or shocked about what happened. But I would definitely read this book again. I was a little shocked that Mrs.Nesbit died.
